The phrase “Pouring My Heart Out” comes from the philosophy “That You Must Fill Up to Overflow”. I am hyper aware of this philosophy working as a nurse and health educator, which is a very giving profession. I must be completely non judgmental, motivate those with illnesses, and inspire problem solving in others. I must embody the pinnacle of health and balance for my patients and those who rely on me. Art helps me to maintain this balance and to develop the resilience it takes to work with others.
Play, meditation, intuition, and vulnerability are the concepts of loose intuitive balance that I used to create this series based on the 7 chakras centers of the nervous system. I meditate on these centers on a regular basis to keep my emotional physical and spiritual balance.
Staying resilient and balanced is a daily exercise. Creating art is a critical way that I express complex emotions and put them into perspective. Bill Wilson the founder of Alcoholics Anonymous wrote, ”You cannot transmit something you haven’t got”. This is why if I am going to be a good mother, nurse and friend, I must be nurturing to myself first. I love to paint, and doing what I love fulfills me so I can overflow.
